What grooming services do you offer at Modern Pet Salon Weddington?

We provide full-service dog grooming, including breed-specific haircuts, luxury spa treatments (blueberry facials, de-shedding, paw balm), nail trims, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing. How long does the grooming process take?

At Modern Pet Salon Weddington, we allocate 3–4 hours for each full grooming service. We build in rest breaks between bathing, drying, clipping, and styling to ensure your dog stays comfortable and stress-free throughout the entire process. If you're looking to get your dog groomed in shorter timeframe ask about our Express Grooming service.

How do I make an appointment?

Use our online booking form on the Book Now page to select your service, date, and time. You’ll receive an email confirmation and reminder. For assistance, call us at 704.846.0336 or email modernpetsalon@yahoo.com.

How often do I need to have my dog groomed?

Frequency varies by coat and activity level, but most dogs do best with a professional groom every 4–8 weeks. Short-haired breeds can extend to 12 weeks, while high-maintenance coats like Poodles and Doodles often require a trim every 4–6 weeks. For our Poodle and Doodle clients, we recommend a rotating care plan: two weeks after their full groom, bring them in for a bath & brush-out to prevent matting, then two weeks later for a haircut. This alternating schedule helps keep your fur baby’s coat healthy and tangle-free.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Please bring your pet on a secure leash or in a carrier. If it is your first visit, and you haven’t already submitted your rabies certificate and service waiver online, bring a valid rabies vaccination record and be prepared to sign the waiver when you arrive.

Do you handle senior pets or pets with special needs?

Certainly. Our team specializes in “fear-free” handling and provides gentle, compassionate care for senior pets or those with medical or behavioral needs. When booking, please let us know any special instructions. If at any point we have concerns about your pet’s safety, we will reach out to you immediately.

What is your cancellation policy?

To avoid a 25% no-show fee, please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your appointment. Late cancellations and no-shows help cover our stylists’ time and operation costs.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and cash—plus a 5% cash discount (no credit-card processing fees). You can also prepay for packages or gift cards online or in-salon. We also accept venmo payments. 

Do you accept walk-ins or is an appointment needed?

Full-service grooming is by appointment only, but we welcome walk-ins for these express services:

  • Nail trims

  • Ear cleaning

  • Teeth brushing

  • Brush-outs

  • Anal Expression

Walk-in services are subject to availability and wait times may vary. To guarantee your spot for a full groom, please book online or call ahead.

What is your pick up and late pick up policy?
  • Normal Hours: Please pick up your pet by our closing time (6 pm).

  • Rush & Holiday Periods: During high-traffic or holiday periods, we’ll let you know at drop-off—or via text—if extended grooming times apply. You’ll have one hour from when we’re notified “ready for pickup” to collect your pet.

  • Late Fee: A $10 fee is added if you arrive more than one hour after your ready notification.

  • After-Hours Pickup: Pickups after 6 pm incur a $20 per hour fee.

What happens if my pet becomes injured or ill during grooming?

Your pet’s safety is our top priority. If we notice signs of distress or an injury, we’ll stop service immediately, administer basic first aid, and contact you right away with our observations and recommendations.

How do you handle heavily matted coats?

If your pet arrives with mats, we’ll first attempt a dematting treatment using specialized conditioners and gentle comb-through techniques. In extreme cases, we may need to carefully shave out the mats to avoid skin irritation. We’ll always discuss options and get your approval before proceeding. You will also be required to sign a matted dog waiver before proceeding.

What grooming products do you use?

We use premium, veterinarian-approved shampoos and conditioners formulated for all coat types, including hypoallergenic and tear-free options. Our styling sprays and finishing products are free of harsh chemicals and safe for sensitive skin.
